Assessment/Diagnosis

​1) The child must be under 13 years of age and referred by a specialist, consultant physician or GP

​2) Medicare rebates are available up to 4 assessment services. The services may consist of a number of different allied health services (e.g., psychology, occupational therapy, speech therapy) and it is up to the referrer to determine how these are allocated.


Treatment

​1) The child must be under 15 years of age and the treatment management plan was put in place before their 13th birthday. 

2) They must be referred by a consultant psychiatrist or paediatrician

​3) Medicare rebates are available for up to 20 appointments. It will be up to the referring practitioner to determine how these are allocated to the different allied health services

​4) On the completion of treatment the treating practitioner will provide the referrer with a report of the treatment provided and recommendations


Chronic Disease Management Initiative (formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care)

1) For patients with a chronic or terminal medical condition referred by their GP

2) Up to 5 allied health services (in a calendar year)

3) On the completion of treatment the treating practitioner will provide the referrer with a report of the treatment provided and recommendations

We provide psychological services via QLD Workcover

Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative (Mental Health Care Plan)

1) You must be referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan by your GP, a paediatrician or psychiatrist

​2) You must bring your referral with your Mental Health Treatment Plan to your appointment

3) After 6 appointments the referrer will be provided with a report from your practitioner. This report will outline the assessment and treatment provided, recommendations and if necessary a request for further appointments

4) If further appointments are required, you will need to return to the referrer for a review. The review will determine eligibility for up to an additional 4 appointments (totaling 10 appointments in a calendar year)

5) You can then return to the practitioner for the specified number of appointments


​Helping Children With Autism/PDD (HCWA) Initiative

Assessment/Diagnosis

​Better Start for Children with a Disability

​1) Children with ASD/PDD and an eligible disability can access either this initiative or HCWA but not both. Eligible disabilities include:

  • ​Sight impairment that results in vision less than or equal to 6/18 vision or equivalent field loss in the better eye with correction
  •  Hearing impairment that results in  -a hearing loss of 40 decibels or greater in the better ear across 4 frequencies or - permanent conductive hearing loss and auditory neuropathy
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Fragile X
  • Down Syndrome

  • Our fees are substantially below the Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended rate of $241 p/h
  • Consultation rate at The Psychology Hub is only $199 for an hour of our time ($74.50 with a Mental Health Plan $54.50 for concession card holders/pensioners) 
  • ​Rates for telephone conversations, community, home and school visits, as well as travel expenses can be provided on request 
  • ​Rates for diagnostic, cognitive and developmental assessments differ depending on your specific requirements. Assessments generally range from $1200-$2200 (excluding rebates where applicable)
  • ​Medicare Rebates range from $52.95-$145.60 per appointment
  • ​Some health insurers offer rebates on psychological services
  • ​Cancellation fees are $100+ GST for less than 36 hours notice - No Exceptions
